Lassen Volcanic National Park
Location: 40 miles east of Redding, California
Features: mountains, hot springs
Lassen Volcanic National Park is a nice park in the north of California. It features a volcano, Lassen Peak, and an active geothermal area, Bumpass Hell.
The volcano had its last eruption between 1914 and 1921 and is still the cause of many earthquakes. There is a trail to the top (appr. 10000 feet, 3187m), which is not that hard. From there you'll have a fantastic view of the area all the way to Mt. Shasta and further.
If you haven't been to Yellowstone National Park, take a hike to Bumpass Hell, a geothermal area. It has a lot of hot springs and is a very colorful area, although not comparable to Yellowstone. The hike through Bumpass Hell on a walkboard is rather relaxing and no problem at all.
