USA - Major Attractions and Hikes of the West - A Travel Guide
Arches National Park
Location: close to Moab, Utah
Features: natural arches
Arches National Park has lots of natural bridges and arches and is also a must see for every visitor.
Most of the arches are reached by a short hike through the Devils Garden close to the campground. Speaking of the campground, this one is one of the most attractive campsites of the area, so during the peak season you might have problems finding a space. Unless you made a reservation in advance, your only chance is to hope for some friendly people, who let you split their ground with them.
Another funny formation is Balanced Rock right at the park entrance. But to see the most outstanding arch you'll have to take a 3 mile roundtrip to Delicate Arch. It's a steady uphill over rocky ground and kind of exhausting if the sun is burning. Nevertheless, this trail is very popular and we even met older people who made it to the arch.
