Cirque de Salazie is the wettest of all three Cirques of La Reunion. The clouds are usually in the cirque by noon. On our way from La Nouvelle to Grand Ilet we crossed the mountain Col de Fourche from which you have a great panorama of the Cirque de Salazie. There is actually a road to almost the top of Col de Fourche, starting in Grand Ilet. Col de Fourche is also quite often used as an easy entrance into the Cirque de Mafate. The trail from the mountain to La Nouvelle is rather easy except for the last part shortly before La Nouvelle, where a short but steep climb has to be hiked.
