Skaftafell National Park

Location: approximately 220 miles east of Reykjavik on the south coast
Features: glaciers, highest mountain of iceland (Hvannadalshnukur), waterfalls

Skaftafell NP - Hvannadalshnukur
Svartifoss is close to the campsite on a short trail, where you'll also get fantastic views to the ocean and the uncountable number of rivers coming from the glaciers.
Joekulsarlon is about 15 miles east of the National Park and the bus will stop there.

Svartifoss
This place is said to be one of the most impressive areas in iceland, but I think, if you don't take a guided tour on the glacier (or do it on your own if you have the experience) it's only worth a short stop.
There are three things you should not miss:
  • Svartifoss
  • a view to the ocean
  • and the bay Joekulsarlon.

I don't think Mike knows what's going on...
