We only passed the Eastfjords on our way to Joekulsargljufur so there is not much I can tell about it. The bus will take you through the Berufjoerdur with nice views to the ocean and the surrounding mountains. It's one af the few parts of the main road which is unpaved.
I think, you can take one thing for granted: if the weather is bad on the southcoast there is a good chance of sunny skies in the Eastfjords, although only 70 miles away from Joekulsarlon.
