Valdez

Location: 320 miles east of Anchorage
Features: Mountains, Glaciers, ocean, Alaska pipeline

Horsetail falls
Famous for the end of the Alaska pipeline, Valdez is a 4000-people 'city' at the southcoast of Alaska. Port Valdez is were the pipeline ends. Except for the huge tanks there, Valdez is not really a sight- seeing town. Although it is beautifully located in the Chugach Mountains, it's probably not a good hiking area, since it simply rains most of the time.
On the way to Valdez, there are two waterfalls, Bridal Vail falls and Horsetail fall which can be seen from the highway as well as Worthington Glacier.
We only had a short stopover at Valdez and the weather was too bad to do anything else than sleeping...
